The Lot Valley Fair is more than a French Market, much more than a Farmers Market. It's a celebration of the rural south of France. The area implemented a major 3-decade programme to 'clean up' its river - the lifeblood of the Lot Valley- thereby safeguarding livelihoods and traditions, protecting the rural environment, its flora and fauna, and protecting too the urban environment of charming little towns and villages. Come and enjoy the results!
The information here relates to London's second Lot Valley Fair which took place in September 2005. WATCH THIS SPACE - who knows there could well be a third Lot Valley Fair in 2006!
The Lot Valley Festival & Fair takes place at London's Covent Garden Piazza between Thursday 22 September & Sunday 25 September 2005 - from 10am to 7pm (Sunday to 5pm).
Covent Garden is in central London, just off The Strand between Waterloo Bridge and Charing Cross Station/Trafalgar Square. It's easy to get to, well signposted both for cars and pedestrians.
Covent Garden Piazza is located just behind The Royal Opera House on the site of the former fresh fruit and vegetables market. The Piazza has been beautifully restored and is now a lively market with lots of excellent boutiques and shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, street entertainment, the London Transport Museum and Theatre Museum, etc.
The closest tube stations are Covent Garden (Piccadilly Line), Holborn (Piccadilly & Central Lines), Leicester Square (Piccadilly & Northern Lines); Tottenham Court Road (Central & Northern Lines) and Embankment tube stations (District & Circle and Bakerloo Lines - next to Charing Cross Railway Station) are a short walk away. Waterloo station is about a 15mins walk across Waterloo Bridge: cross the Strand, walk up Wellington Street/Bow Street and turn left into Russell Street just before the Royal Opera House.
Covent Garden is within the Congestion Charge Area (operates Monday to Friday only). The Charge is now £8 per day, however many times your vehicle enters or leaves the zone in the course of the day. You can pay the Congestion Charge on the Transport for London website. Click here www.tfl.gov.uk or by phoning 0845 900 1234.
