Almost all the independent wine-growers that are coming to the fair use a blend of traditional and modern methods, taking the best from both worlds: picking by hand, sorting by hand, avoiding chemicals as much as possible, using stainless steel vats as well as old and new oak barrels (where appropriate). All are passionate about their profession, and for many the whole family is still involved today as their parents and grandparents were before them.
These are
in fact some of the best small producers of the Lot
Valley, the ‘crème de la crème’,
with wines mentioned in various French and English guides,
and some have even won prizes at prestigious competitions
in France. These are usually not cheap wines, as the
special methods and care taken require more labour and
more time thus necessitating a higher price. Some even
check each bunch of grapes by hand for damage or immaturity.
However, we have managed to convince these expert growers to offer ex-cellar prices (+transport, duty and VAT, of course!) for customers at the show. Prices starts at £5 up to £20. Find out more about the wine-growers coming to the fair by clicking on the names on the list below.
